We decided to
do this with the specific purpose of allowing family and friends the
opportunity to share in all the things that are the Southerland family.
Who we are, things we've done, and places we've been to etc. Keep in
mind that I've got absolutely ZERO skills in building a web site so it
will be at first a slow process of adding to it but check back from time
to time to see the new additions.

I was born September 1 1964 in Las Vegas Nevada
to Theodore and Janet Southerland.
I grew up in Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado though most of my childhood from 1972 and later was in Colorado. My high school years were spent at St. John's Military School, Salina Kansas where I graduated in 1982 somewhere in the middle of my class. Then at the end of what seemed to be a very short summer I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in an attempt to learn a trade and see the world.
I chose to be a mechanic as my profession because I love working on cars and have gotten great satisfaction in of over coming the challenges that exist in today's electronics in most all cars.
I was married for a short time to Denise with whom I have two children, Sarah and Travis. After the split I just tried to focus on my job and drank a lot. (I was very lost) A coworker talked me in to bowling on a league and the second year of that I met Danielle who I really liked a lot. We dated and Ta Da!!! We were married on June 20, 2002. with our daughter Tara to arrive In December. I also gained a step daughter Ashley who is wonderful as well.
We are almost to ten years in our walk together Danni and I, with some great memories as well as some rough ones, (mostly brought on by my own hand) but we continue to move forward. The biggest thing for the both of us is returning to church and re discovering God and just how applicable and needed He is in our lives. The change within us both is clearly visible as we continue to seek him.

I was born on July 2, 1965 to the beautiful Rose Marie Simpson and the very handsome Donald Edward Simpson. I grew up in Oak Lawn, IL on 50th Ave. across the street from my best friend Janet Drzewiecki who is still my best friend today. Today her name is Janet DeMarco because she is married to a wonderful guy named David and she has two great kids Carly and Emily Norton.
We lost Dad at a young age (he was 50) and Mom had to raise me and my sister Shari by herself during the terrible teen years (which are much worse than the terrible twos!). I was the challenging one and definitely pushed Mom to the very end of her limits. Thankfully she didn't send me away (or kill me!) and even more thankfully she is still around today so I am able to tell her how much I love her. There is no doubt she can take all the credit for my good qualities.
I got married at a young age (20) to Scott Steen and when I was 22 I had my amazing, beautiful first daughter Ashley Rose Steen. Ashley was born on 7-22-87 at 6:22 PM in Room 222, Bed 2. Things did not work out between me and Scott but we have remained close throughout the years and he is one of my best friends and I could not have asked for a better father for Ashley. I'm so proud of her.
In 1996 after never being away from home I accepted a job offer and moved to Tennessee. Not long after being in Tennessee I accepted another job offer in Northern Virginia and found myself moving again. I bought my first house in 1999 (with a great deal of help from my Mom) and soon after Ashley and I adopted The Rusty (see Pets).
I had several relationships - some serious, some not-so-serious - and finally settled down for the second time in June 2002 with David who had two kids Sarah and Travis who became my step-children. On December 9, 2002 we were blessed with another amazing and beautiful daughter (my second) Tara Adrienne Southerland. In 2005 we moved again for a brief time to Indiana, but found ourselves back in Northern Virginia in 2007. We live on a quiet cul-de-sac in Sterling, VA with our dog Jake and our ever-growing aquariums. We have great neighbors and friends. We do miss our family and friends back home and hope by starting this website that we can be a little bit closer to them.

I was born September 17, 1993 and live with my Mom in Virginia. This year am a senior in High school. I like playing all different sports and am on the school basket ball and softball teams. I play the guitar and am starting to learn the piano. My favorite music is Rock and Metal.
Tara
I was born December 9, 2002 in Virginia. I'm a third
grade student this year and my favorite subjects are math, talking, and
getting counted. (hee hee hee) I love animals and have ten fish, two
snails, and one dog though my favorite animals are dogs. My favorite
thing to eat is Italian food and Grandma makes the best and always has
lots of it on hand when we go visit her. My favorite things to do for
fun are climbing trees, video games, watching TV. and rock climbing
